Thanks. I got it from a hardwood timberyard in Wiltshire. To be honest it's a total nightmare to work with and the carving nearly broke me... I'd never seen it before

What sort of finish did you end up using?

I can't remember how many hours. It started off as a carving exercise and as I was struggling I took a lot of long breaks. It's stained then french polished
