In 1972 I received this banjo from a WW2 B52 pilot who got it from one of his crew that got killed. From what he said the crew member played in one of the big bands from back then. The neck stay's true and straight and in toon even after hears of being kept in the case. It plays well, but I don't especially like the square cut frets. I haven't been able to exactly Identify the model. As this one has 22 tensioner screws and all I have seen only 21. The closest I have come to is called the "Ladies Model" I fitted it with a calfskin drum head for the head as the original one was totally ripped and useless. It is designed to use a plain skin, not a pre-made head. 8 inches or so....
