Ernest Jones was the banjo playing Birmingham Turf Accountant who made some very nice records on his Vibrante, amongst them 'Heather Bloom' 'Mighty America' and this one, 'Swanee Echoes' written by Alfred Kirby. Ernest Jones had a mosaic floor in the hall of his house, which featured a Vibrante Zither Banjo, it is still in situ, but not available for public inspection, Jones later moved to Herstmonceaux near Bournemouth, where he remained active in the local musical circles. Most of Kirby's solos remain unpublished, but he was a gifted composer for the banjo and it is a matter of regret that perhaps, his best work will never be played again. Swanee Echoes is a challenging solo which you will enjoy.
