This is my first time installing a calf skin head on a “modern” banjo! I have installed deer skin on my gourd banjos, but they were all tacked on only. Here is a picture. I have already had it on two days and haven’t touched it and waiting for it to dry. I used SS Stewart instructions from 1887. It just seems too tight. I am afraid it will burst. The hoop is still well above the top of the head and I dare not tighten the tension hooks and nuts yet. I am going to wait until maybe day four and make sure it is all dry. Any advise? I certainly didn’t want a plastic head on this 1896 SS Stewart. Thanks everyone for support me as a newbie to Classic Stlye!
