This is just a brief public "Thanks" to Marc Smith for bringing a Stewart and an Essex banjo (among others) to Suwannee Banjo Camp for me to use in several of the sessions I was teaching (including one on 19th century fingerstyle technique). I was afraid to fly with multiple banjos and, since he was driving, he was willing to share. Marc is a great asset to our part of the banjo community. He is not only an enthusiastic banjoist, but he also possesses a wonderfully esoteric and specialized knowledge of 19th century music! Thanks Marc, I owe ya one!!!

Best regards,
Greg

My pleasure, Greg. I had a great time and really enjoyed learning the basics of playing the Ekonting (or E-can-ting or E-cookie-tin or whatever it was we were playing) from you. Your "roots" presentation was also excellent and I heard a lot of positive comments about it throughout the weekend.

Your classes were uniformly excellent. I talked to many of your students afterwards who were slack-jawed in admiration of your teaching and playing skills...esp. your 'bones' skills. After you got the bones out, I heard people all over the park clacking away for the rest of the weekend.

I did check the Essex banjo case when I got home...just to make sure you hadn't accidently taken it home! ;-)

I wish we had more time to do Classic duets. I've got to work harder on my 2nds skill set!
