Polka composed by henri Grémont around 1894 ; from the French magazine " l 'illustration " . I transposed from original Eb key to a G key ; I played it on my Weymann destroyed 10 1/2 banjo .

That's some fine left thumb work on the fifth string, Marc. Interesting title, considering that the tune moves along pretty rapidly. Was this composed by Grémont for banjo specifically?

not for the banjo at all , Jody ; for the piano ; it ' s always a problem to " downdate " a tune from a piano version with 7 1/4 octaves to a banjo with only 3 of these ... for instance with one of my favorite composer , Louis Moreau Gottschalk , the problem is really there ( look at the caricature ) ; anyway , i guess it ' s Ray who said that we have to find new_old tunes from the attic ; so let 's go
