Abe Holzmann wrote this wonderful march that was a gift to songwriters. The 'official' song went: 'we'll make a bonfire of our troubles and we'll watch them blaze away'. But when I was a lad I took my tanner (sixpence) and went to the Saturday morning pictures. It was there we sung every week the song of the ABC Minors:
'We are the boys and girls all known as Minors of the ABC
And every Saturday we line up
To see the films we like and shout about with glee.
We like to laugh and have a sing-song,
Such a happy crowd are we.
We're all palls together,
We're Minors of the ABC.'
So when you hear the band strike up, follow the bouncing ball and let rip!

Very cool, Mr. Tapis. One of my favorites and very nicely played.

Great playing as usual Tony. Thank you for posting... love 'em!

It is amazing too that you managed to squeeze the "Shah's Ottoman Brass band" into your back room and still found a seat.

I remember the good old days of Saturday mornings at the pictures, but we were often thrown out for singing a much more fruity version with lyrics about a girl called Nellie and her baby when they played to the song.

Very nice. I learned you Teddy Bears' Picnic last year. Maybe I will learn this one next. Thank you for posting and for your skill as a player.

Tony has kindly sent me a notated score for Blaze Away and I have added this to the MUSIC LIBRARY.

Tony does a nice job with his notation using colours and fret board indicators.. shame the MUSIC LIBRARY is in monochrome due to file size restrictions.. BUT you can download his PDF in glorious technicolor below :-)

Come on Sal.. there is no excuse now.. how's about learning it for the next Vermont Jamboree?

Thanks Tony. It is great to watch your videos, or should I say Maestro Tapis's videos.

Sal,

Thanks for your comments.  I understand you played TBP at a bluegrass convention!  Did you win?

You should find Blaze Away a breeze by comparison.  My version has just been uploaded (some minor changes from the Grimshaw version).

Regards

Tony
