My Cammeyer Vibrante Royal zither banjo did not make it home after a Secret Life Of Banjos concert in Berkeley, California last night. It was in a brown hard English case, the kind that is straight on one side and round on the other, odd looking. It must have been taken during the packing up of the car outside the venue. The case has a name (now forgotten) and the Canadian address of a former owner hand written on the outside. If anyone sees the banjo or has information please let me know. I am posting 3 rather poor photos of the banjo itself.
thanks,
Jody Stecher

Hi Dave. Yes I thought of you right away when I discovered the Camm was missing. I seem to recall the heel had the Cammeyer signature on one side. Certainly no mention of John Alvey Turner. I'll post a picture of the heel separately. Not the best but it's all I have Ning won't let me add it here. I think your daughters are on to something. I know what you mean about the skip. I picture mine out in the rain.

It is so perishing cold here in the UK that if I find it, it is going straight on the fire...lots of wood in a zither banjo.

:-)

Well you will all live up in the North East or North West or Scotland,.... it's cold down here on the Isle of Wight but not "perishing"cold : )

I am so relieved that my banjo will not be burned on the Isle of Wight. Here in northern California, where we are also having unusually cold weather, and where the banjo probably still is, the banjo is still in peril. Good thing the thief doesn't know how many musical calories I've poured into that banjo over the years. It'd burn for hours. There are a number of local people on the lookout, one even made an excellent flier. It's very heartening. I sent out a mass emailing and the next morning got so many responses containing good ideas about retrieval that I had no time to implement any of them as I spent the whole morning just opening and reading email messages. Then my students arrived. It's better than being ignored. Better still is not having your banjo stolen.

Hi Jody, joking aside, I hope you soon get your banjo back. Was thinking about it the other day and wondered if it could have accidentally been packed into another performers car and not yet been noticed? I guess you have thought of that though.?

Sylvia, yes that would have been a distinct possibility given that there were too many people on the job during the loading but no it didn't get into Bill's car.

Hi Jody,

Wondering if you and Bill have any future gigs planned for Secret Life of Banjos (uh, -1)?

Would love to see that show.

Here's hoping your z-b is found!

Adam, yes we intend to revive the show. We plan to do it with *all* our banjos including the eventually retrieved Camm VR.

Great! Are you comfortable posting details on this site re: future gigs?

If not, what's the best way to learn of future dates? Bill's site, nativeandfine.com?
