Canadian's Parade by Joe Morley Classic Fingerstyle Banjo

Composed in the early 1900's by famous UK banjo player Joe Morley. My attempt has a few added variations and twiddly bits, all intended of course, and is ded...

I found this Joe Morley Score a couple of weeks ago and noticed that it was not in the MUSIC LIBRARY... it is now though!!

I have heard two versions on the web, but am not terribly impressed by either of them, so here is my terribly un-impressive attempt.

Yet another March from Morley, and a cracker it is too... where did he get them?  I found it a bit tricky to play at speed and then I remembered what I was once told by a person much wiser than I...

NEVER TRY TO PLAY MUSIC WITH MORE BLACK ON THE PAGE THAN WHITE.  :-)

This one comes close, but is really not too bad once you ignore the fingering shown on the score and work out for yourself !!!

I dedicate this to my Canadian friend Shawn McSweeny as he has been of amazing help on the website over the last couple of years. Thank you Shawn.

Well done, Ian!! Bravo!!

I have a couple copies of this in the stacks...it must have been popular. Sure sounds good.

A great performance Ian, and it's good to see the bow tie getting a well deserved airing..Steve.

Another fine performance Ian, of a memorable and once popular tune (TBJr recorded it). Haven't seen that many Mounties in years. Thanks for the kind words on helping out.

Bravo Ian, made my day! What a wonderful performance, I love the trio part on the bass.

By the way, love the menorah, but wouldn't a hanukiah have been more appropriate at this time? ;-)

Brilliant Ian, well done, a very challenging piece tastefully done. Daunting, wouldn't dream of trying it! Regards. Frank

Thank you for the kind comments. It was fun to play, despite all the gnashing of teeth :-)

After my daughter watched the video she sent me a photo of her new cat:

I am pleased she is keeping up the family appearances, but I think that she may be taking the pi..., er, the Mickey.

Help me remember; are you allowed to give your children a quick smack when no one is looking? ( She is 26 now!)

;-)

I laughed out loud when I saw the lower half of the picture!  My mom is still apt to give me a head smack now when she is 96 and I'm 65.  There truly is no rest for the wicked!

Great march!  Makes me want to put on a red jacket and jodhpur boots!
