There was talk here recently about Thomas J Armstrong. Here's a fair to middlin' rendition of one of his banjo compositions, "Valley Green Polka". This was published in 1896 by S.S. Stewart. It's a simple tune musically but technically not-so-very-easy. I deliberately am handling the repeated notes on the first string in the "trio" F major part in different ways, just to see what works best. I'll post the dots soon.

C E Regal....  oooohh I want one!

Very nice Jody. It is quite a while since we saw a video from you and this is better than "fair to middlin'". Very good indeed, as we would expect from you.

Thank you for posting!

Thanks, Ian and Alan. Alan, I don't understand the question so for now I guess the answer is "maybe".

I was in smiths the other day to buy the acoustic guitar mag but realized i had no money on me , but i glanced in the mag anyway . The  guitar tune i think was called little willy .

I made some guitar videos for Acoustic Guitar magazine last year or maybe the year before. Little Willie, a traditional song,  was one of them. Maybe in the latest issue they published the dots and/or a tab of my guitar solos or the accompaniment to the singing.  I wasn't aware of it.

Such a pretty tune. Never thought I'd say this but I may be on my way to appreciating the polka!

Leslie:  just wait till we get to Cupid's Arrow, a "concert polka", whatever that is.  Everyone else: Leslie is my banjo student.
