This is a must play tune. Messick has composed a piano score in the style of early stroke style banjo,  it's a very good effort and I guess that he's probably transcribed a tune that he'd heard played on banjo. The piano score is written in A and I've set it in G. Apart from the Dmaj. chords in 2P, which could played as a single D, and the melody notes played by the thumb on the third string, most of this is played out of first position. It's a simple but very melodic tune, not too hard to play, and is worth a try. I've added the composers explanatory notes at the beginning of the score which puts the tune in its historical context. The score and midi are in the library...Steve.
