After a couple of weeks trying to learn classic banjo style and about 546 takes later, this is about as good as I can muster for now. www.flatfootjohnny.comP...

Ive been lurking about on this site for quite a while and have decided that this year i will finally attempt to learn classic banjo style as well as to read music (i said that last year) so heres the first and only classic banjo tune i learnt (back in 2019).

You have a banjo with splendid tone and you are bringing that tone out splendidly.   This particular piece of music is not speedy so your right hand technique of repeating strokes with the same finger is causing no problems. Do try to alternate thumb, index, and middle in whatever order is appropriate for the phrase being played. Sequential notes that are quarter notes or half notes can be played with the same finger, especially the thumb. But anything faster needs alternate fingering to flow smoothly. That said, you have brought out the musicality in Sunflower Dance and doing that is the most important thing.

Thanks Jody. Its  Clifford Essex special XX i fixed up for Martin Simpson. A lovely banjo. Thanks for the advice. After years of claw hamner playing its taken ages to get the fingers working again. Ive recently got a few banjo classic method books to get practicing with.
