This iconic American March is currently my favourite out of all my recent march arrangements. I've taken it from an original piano arrangement in which is included Edward Berg's 'Red White And Blue'. I've trimmed it down it and have arrived at a pretty good approximation of the original score. Though I say so myself, it makes a great banjo march. Both marches could be played as solos in their own right. My apologies to Glen Miller!....The score and midi are in the library...Streve.

Excellent, Steve! I would have a very hard time not giving this one a very hard swing, a la Glen Miller. I grew up with the GM version playing routinely on my parent's sound system...

Thanks Marc, It's another of my arrangements of a tune that wouldn't necessarily be associated with classic banjo but I'm pleased with the result. You could pick and mix the bits that you wish to play rather than playing the whole shooting match which I'll admit could be a challenge....Steve.

I haerd a few plectrum banjo

Steve, the 'American Patrol', arranged by Parke Hunter, appears in one of the two Dallas albums No. 13 or 14, of Hunter original compositions or arrangements published in the early 1900s. I never bothered to play through it until about 20 years ago and was surprised to find that it was the 'Glenn Miller' tune which I had always assumed to have been written by GM. The Hunter arrangement is in the key of G major I think.

Hi Richard, thanks for the info, do you happen to have a copy that you could post? I'd be interested in seeing Hunter's take on the tune...Steve.

Cool. Thanks Richard!

The ABF Library catalog shows they have some MS by "Magee" for this piece also.

I thought I had it, but turns out I had two tunes of the same name, one by Sanders Papworth and one by Lansing (well, "American Banjo Patrol" by Lansing).

I've put this one in the queue. I'll transmorgrify it into a Banjo Solo (removing the piano part) and generate tab to go with the dots.

Thank you Richard! This is one great tune, and thank you for posting it.

I have added your score to the MUSIC LIBRARY for easy download.

Thanks to Marc too, who obviously has far too much time on his hands now that he has retired :-)
