This march by AJW  follows the usual 6/8 march formula, nevertheless it's a good one and worth a listen and play. I took the arrangement from a piano score, I don't know if he ever arranged the tune for banjo so this is my effort. The piano score was in F, I've arranged it in C and moved around the octaves to get it all to fit. According to Wikipedia, there are three Queen Cities in the US, I don't know which of them (if any) AJW was referring to in the title. The score and midi are in the library....Steve.

Very nice!

It was composed for regular banjo and published in Vol. 17, No 11 of the Cadenza.  That issue is missing from the New York Public Library's collection. It was later arranged and published for mandolin orchestra. That issue does exist...

It is in F for mandolin but I bet it was in C or G for regular banjo.

Hi Joel, thanks for the info and your kind comment....Steve.

There are about 30 cities in the US that are nicknamed "Queen City" or "Queen City of something". Buffalo, NY (Weidt's birthplace) is known as "The Queen City of The Great Lakes".

However, I submit "Beach Haven, NJ" as a likely culprit. Built in the 1890s as a resort town for the rich and famous, no doubt Mr. Weidt was haunting its clubs and restaurants and tying up his boat at the marina. Beach Haven is yet another aka "The Queen City".
