Hey there, I popped the regular set of zitherbanjo strings on this reilybaker banjo and it sounded extremely muted  and dull. Not really in a good way at all and i'm someone that uses fishingline for banjo strings on my aluminium merlin longneck banjo.

The 5th string was extremely sharp and twangy, 4th string felt nice to the touch but sounded terrible (silver threaded nylon) , 3rd string felt fine its just nylon anyway, and the rest were just steel so nothing to write home about. Maybe zitherbanjo strings would sound better with a different bridge to accomodate the new strings, or I got a bumb set of strings. Main complaint was that 4th string feeling just wrong. All the soul left the banjo I let it settle an hour or so with it but it didn't sound right. I dont think zitherbanjo strings for this aluminium necked amd aluminium pot banjo mixed well personally. It made the banjo feel hollow, and dull like if I was using a broomstick for a neck, sewing thread for strings and a bucket for a resoantor.  You got any reccomendations stringwise, i'm still happy to experiment with different strings but them clifford essex ones did not sound right on this banjo. I got the same set on my other zitherbanjo and it sounds fine on that one but not this one. So far only happy with the martin or John pearse on this riley baker banjo so far.

Took off them Clifford Essex zitherbanjo regular set, left the 3rd string nylon on and put my martin strings back on for the moment aside from that 3rd string. Its coming out with a neat tone to it having that third string nylon. Not sure if I prefer it or not but I've left it on for now.
