If the photo at the top of this thread is of the Banjoliers why are there no banjos to be seen? Perhaps this is a photo of the Mandoliers. Or were the two the same band, playing either mandolins or banjos according circumstance?
You have hit the nail on the head, the banjoliers/mandoliers were the same people just with different instruments. The personnel varied according to who was available and much use was made of banjolins so that violinists could be employed in the band. Both bands were very good and they were my favourite bands on 'Music While You Work' in the 1950s.

I was aware of that but I wasn't able to find a good photo showing him with the Banjoliers. I did watch all videos I could find.
