The Missouri Waltz (1914)..Lee Edgar Settle. aka "Hush-a-bye, Ma baby"

This is one of the nicest waltz's I've heard in a long time. The original melody was composed by L.E.Settle, the composer of the soon to be posted X.L.Rag, but was 'hijacked', re arranged and published without any reference to Settle on any of the published scores. Words were later added by J.R.Shannon and the song recorded by Bing Crosby amongst others. In 1946, it was adopted as the State song for Missouri. At least L.E.S. was acknowledged as the composer on his gravestone.

To get the most out of it requires a delicate touch, something my size 11 hands are loath to do, and it may possibly be better suited to the zither banjo. The score and midi are in the library....Steve.

Thank you Maxwell, that is really cool and laid back.

I like it too as it made me smile.  The tempo is perfect.

Great post, thanks again.

That's a great recording, I'd not heard it before and as Ian said, it's just the right tempo..Steve.
