Charles Joseph "Buddy" Bolden was a cornet player and one of the pioneers of ragtime/jazz in the late 1890s and early 1900s. He wrote a tune called Buddy Bolden's Mardi Gras March which is very similar to this tune by Theo Wenzlik. It is thought that Wenzlik may have 'borrowed' the melody, having heard it played by New Orleans street musicians, and used it for this composition. It's a good early march/cake-walk and makes a good banjo tune. The score and midi are in the library...Steve.
