A Site Dedicated to all enthusiasts of Classic Style Banjo
Sad News I have just heard that Alf Brimble passed away yesterday - aged 96.
Another light has gone out.
I last saw him at Backwell last year, still playing guitar and banjo everyday.
Very sad news Dave.
I am sure that all here on Classic-Banjo Ning will want to pass on their sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
Alf was a lovely man, a great musician and a true gent.
Sad news indeed, Alf was a true gentleman and accomplished banjo and guitar player. I had the pleasure of knowing Alf for over twenty years. We met every week for an evening of banjo playing and chat until I moved to Cyprus. Although the banjo was the mutual subject of discussion I would marvel at some of the experiences he encountered whilst serving in the Navy on an armed merchant ship with the North Atlantic Fleet during the second world war.
Alf was also an accomplished ballroom dancer and had won many competitions over the years, his knowledge of music and keeping strict time helped develop his dancing skills.
Dear Alf will be sadly missed by his relatives and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
