Repasz Band March (1904)...Chas. C. Sweeley, Harry j. Lincoln

The Repasz band is longest serving non Military band in the USA. It was formed in 1831 in Pennsylvania and in 1859, renamed after it's first principal conductor Daniel Repasz.

This is a classic 6/8 march with a great trio/bass solo, it sounds good on banjo and isn't too much of a challenge on the fingers.

This link will take you to a recording of the tune by the Repasz band and  gives more information as to the band's origins. The score and midi are in the library....Steve.

Well done again, Steve. I think you've captured this one properly. I really enjoyed the link too, great history lesson.

Thanks Marc, although not as well known, I think this march sits well beside the likes Washington Post and Blaze Away as a good banjo march. It's a great tune to play as well, especially the trio/ bass solo...Steve.

I just listened to the band play the march and it is a really rousing march. I would march to it but I will have to wait a few months, say after February.

Hi Hal..I'd love to be able to march to it at any time but the ravages of advancing years and chronic problems with my back and knees prohibits such activity...Steve.
