James Royce Shannon [James Royce] was an American actor, composer and songwriter of popular music. This is one of Two ragtime tunes that he wrote. I could find nothing about the subject of the tune but would appear that Waiman was a popular performer of the time as his picture, together with an "as played by" comment appears on the front cover of one of the scores for The Memphis Rag by W.C.Handy. Maybe someone out there may have some information about him? The score and midi are in the library..Steve.
