Having listened to Dave Raphaelson's excellent arrangements of Baroque music for banjo, I revisited one of the few classical arrangements that I posted some years ago. Elgar gave the tune to his fiance as an engagement gift. The midi doesn't do the tune justice so I've uploaded an MP3 of it being played on violin, the instrument for which it was originally written. It's one of my wife Gillian's favourite pieces of music.

I've shortened it somewhat by basing my arrangement around the first two movements.

I have an association with Elgar in that he was born in Lower Broad Heath, a village near my home town of Malvern, Worcestershire, and lived most of his life here. He and his wife were buried  at St. Wulstan's Church in Little Malvern. I've attached a picture of Elgar's statue located in Malvern town centre.

It's not a tune that would necessarily be associated with the banjo but it does work quite well. The score and midi are in the library...Steve.
