Fortunately it was a plectrum banjo, otherwise we all would lose sleep tonight!

It looks like a tenor, and a Paragon at that. As such it is worth a lot of money to players of Irish music. More than the market value for the equivalent Plectrum or Five String in the same model. £3500 is typical.
