This is a quick post to say thank you to those who sent me birthday messages today!

I am humbled to receive such nice comments "about my age" and the website :-)

A special HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Remi Dalmasso too... keep practising Remi, and remember all the best players were born on the  20th of May !!

BUT I owe a VERY SPECIAL thank you to my friend Eric Silverstone.

I met Eric in the late 1970's when he was being taught by Tarrant Bailey Junior in Bollington, Cheshire, and we corresponded by letter at that time.

A couple of years ago Eric joined the site as a member and I recognised his name. We have communicated since then, but this time by email and he also visited my house last summertime when he was over from Israel. By sheer coincidence as a child Eric lived in Blackpool... in a house on the same road and almost opposite the house where I live now !!!

This morning I received a birthday present from Eric and thought that I would share it with you:

This is a letter obviously written in reply to a query to the BMG magazine in 1929. The document is quite fragile, but contains a hand-written document, reply envelope and order form for the CE Company when they were based at 15A Grafton street. I was amazed to see the signatory of the letter.

Thank you so much Eric.

It will take a pride of place in my collection of things "Classic Banjo"
