TWO ! Great, Scott Joplin arrangements for Classic Banjo

Following recent discussions about Scott Joplin's compositions for banjo, Richard Ineson has very kindly sent me two of his arrangements of Joplin's pieces.

The first composed in 1901 is Ragtime Dance.

I think this is one of Joplin's best rags!

The second  was a 1903 composition called Weeping Willow.

I had never heard of it, but what a great tune it is and is another that could have been written for the banjo. Here is a piano version...  it brings a tear to my eye, but I am an old softy.

Taken not too fast it is a delight.

Thank you Richard.  The scores are now in the MUSIC LIBRARY

How cool is that? Ragtime Dance is pretty much a "standard" and I think I have at least one period banjo arrangement of it. It has sooooo many bits in it that became cliche for 'ragtime'. A somewhat different setting of these 'bits' later became "Stoptime Rag", another great Joplin crowd pleaser.

Weeping Willow is indeed one of the great ones...
