I just had a mail from my friend Rob Murch.  Long time no see Rob!

He has sent a link to a video that he has made of Morley's "The Gunners March".

For those who have not seen Rob play he is probably one of, if not the best, Classic Style players in the UK.... but you probably guessed that already!!

Thank you for the link Rob. What is the banjo that looks like a Weaver with 100 tension hooks as it sounds terrific?

Fab-O-La.   99.5 out of 100. Rob gets half a point off for exposing one knee but not the other.

Absolutely fabulous! Is that a 12 or 13 inch pott? Or did the whisky affect my vision... :-)

Well done!

And of course, the dots are in the library here up in the library link.

Here's Tab for those of us who prefer such things.

I forgot that Rob had told me about his banjo in March and I had posted details here:    Rob's New Banjo

I guess my memory loss must be due to too much beer... (or maybe too little) or to general age related brain fade!

Rob sent me a few more pics of his lovely "new" banjo and I thought that not only I should be envious, but you should be too :-)     Just look at the hoop engraving...   Woooah !!!

More videos Rob  :-)

Oh no!  I was going to do that!  Now no-one will ever see how it should have been played!

In case you hadn’t worked it out, Rob, I am very much kidding.  That’s a lovely job, and your left hand fingers are a show unto themselves.  It’s one of Morley’s most recognisable tunes.

On the other hand, I am sorry to see you reduced to living out of what looks to me very much like my garden shed.  Those old floor boards make a nice door, but those hinges are a bit under-sized.

Which goes to show that, no matter what you play and how well you do it, folks just love to comment on what you’re wearing and what knick-knacks you have on the shelf behind you.

More power to your fingers.

All the best.

Tony
