As with The Pride of Bucktown, this is a good early cakewalk that could have been written for banjo. Together with the addition of some triplets, it also makes good use of rests to give an interesting staccato rhythm. The Trio makes is a good contrast to the opening parts and the overall arrangement works very well. I've also arranged it in open G tuning, the score and midi are in the library...Steve.

This one seems to lose just a little without the bass note filling in the space of that rest. It sort of stutters along to me...I think it would be best with a 2nd banjo or CB part to help it out. Otherwise, I think this is a very neat tune and does indeed work well!

Hi Marc, it is possible to add a second note from the bass clef to fill some of the gaps caused by the rests, I did try this in the original draft but decided against it in the final version. maybe I'll give it a second look...Steve.

Hi Marc, I tried adding  bass notes to bars bars 5,8,13,15 (plus repeated section) but it still didn't flow very well. I've overcome this by replacing the first two beats in each of the bars with a G,B triplet followed by D in 7P, this seems to do the trick although it does stray from the original score. See what you think....Steve.

There's no alternative file yet, so I'll wait for that. I see where a single bass note might not do the trick. Might need a leading note starting in the previous bar to drive it forward. Looking forward to hearing what you have though!

Hi Marc,my amended score and midi are now in the library. I've opened the  problematic bars with a  triplet in line with other bars in the rest of the tune. It's not as written for piano but I think it works OK....Steve.
