New strings on the zither banjo and the fingerboard has had an oil ... so time for some practice. A Little piece called "G-Whizz" from Emile Grimshaw's "The banjo and how to play it". It shows the use of the octave string (the 5th string) for rapid shifting. If only it could help with finger stretches required on the long neck of the Windsor!

Nice, relaxed playing - the zither banjo sounds great.

You have the finger tremolo of a classical guitar player... You obviously have great fretboard skills!

I remember practising this piece from the Grimshaw book in the 1970s :-)

Nicely played.

Thanks :)

A fretboard is a new and complicated beast for me. I had piano lessons when I was a child and later played a lot of accordion. This is the first fretted instrument I have ever learnt and it is really challenging!

I am experimenting with the tremolo to try and make the zither "sing" a bit :)
