This is my take on a classic ragtime tune by CLJ. All the arrangements I've seen of this have been written in C so I thought I'd have fresh look at it and after some experimentation, I set it F.  I've also reversed some of the octaves so that the whole composition spreads between IP and 15P. The score and midi are in the library..Steve.

Congrats for your arrangements, you did so so much. Im sur that there are all playable, but it could be so cool if you record one of them one day; I m sure you are a great player next to your arrangements.

Best regards to every banjo player

ps: I m watching closely "the darky volunteer", as it was composed by Fred Hylands (Ramona Baker's hero, she's great piano player I m sure you know her) dedicated to Vess Ossman !

This is a particularly good arrangement, Steve. Well done!

In fact, it drove me to write out the TAB for it. See attached.

Of course we finger things a bit differently, you and I. I couldn't help but re-install the beginning triplet from the piano score. I simply liked it better as a beginning...I only use it once.

I've also appended a MIDI file. Yours is an octave high, I think.

Also, this is my debut with TAB from "MuseScore 2" This is a free download...and it is quite a nice one for notation entry. I'm finding out that it has an amazing banjo TAB algorithm, it gets nearly everything right! I have basically only been moving the 5th string G to its open string and then making minor alterations along the way. That's a big plus from TablEdit, which assigns every note above the 5th fret to the first string (and gives out very quirky chords) and then you have to sort out every inch of it.

I think TablEdit makes better looking TAB but MuseScore takes quite a bit less time. Additionally, TablEdit's notation entry is rudimentary compared to MuseScore's...much faster to work with.

Hi Marc, Thanks for that, I'll put the tab into the correct format and send it to Ian to add to the library. I've downloaded Musescore but I couldn't figure out how to set the number of bars per line, when I set up a new file, two rows of 16 bars was displayed. Other than that, it pretty well follows what I do with Printmusic which I've been using since 2002. I will say that the banjo voice is more realistic than the one on PM. I haven't looked at much music software but I expect they all follow the same format.....Steve.
