Fred Turner, another superb Classic Banjo player I have never heard of!

I have recently come across this excellent recording made by a player called Fred Turner.

I must admit that I do not know anything about him except that he was a superb player!

As you can see it was recorded on "The Twins" record label No 129, but no indication of the year of recording... any ideas and information on F.Turner would be appreciated.

ENJOY  this great tune and great playing.

According to "The Banjo On Record" by Heier and Lotz, Fred Turner is a pseudonym for Olly Oakley. He recorded under that name for Zonophone and for Ariel. Also pictured is another label of a "Fred Turner" banjo solo on The Twin label. It's " Rugby Parade March", No. T 5079 / Serial 95. Just as it is in the label shown above, the logo shows 2 twins but the words say "The Twin" (singular).

It also is marked "Double Sided Disc Record".  What is on the other side of "Return of the Regiment"?

It may have been To The Front. This was recorded in 1913.

No idea what was on the other side but this one was recorded 16th January 1909. "To the Front" was recorded 20th October 1909 - Twin 95. I can't find any ref to a 1913 recording. There are much earlier recordings (1904) by Will Pepper.
