The intro is set to the rhythms Marc suggested. Then comes the first 8 bars of the tune's first part. The first two measures of this part (5 and 6 in the score)  are played entirely on the third string (sounds very nice on zither-banjo) and measures 9 and 10 are also played on the third string.

Now it's up to someone else to compose the next bit, and then pass it on. Volunteers?

I don't see a slide, Jody. Yes, there is a nice 3rd string 'thing'...but I see no directions for sliding around.

I was more thinking along the lines of a 4th string "trombone gliss."

Composerly duties: ya, I'm waiting for the islanders to show up. They're probably all over in Blackpool waving cowbells about, getting ready to watch the Superbowl.

Marc Dalmasso, did you mean the B notes in the last 3 measures to be flat or natural?

I couldn't figure how to get Musescore software  to show the slides.  All the single notes sequences are slid up and down on the third string. The fingering indications in the first two measures after the intro are meant to show that a slide is intended.

Up to the next Committee , Jody , they 'are actually  flat ; but it 's possible to make natural & go to G7 again for instance ..

Fair enough.

Another question: did you mean for the first part of the tune to have only 12 measures instead of 16? The first 4 measures I wrote are the introduction.

you choosed 12 measures , Jody ......... ?

I thought I was creating the first 8 measures of a banjo solo which had several parts, each with 16 measures, like a typical 6/8 march. In front of the those 8 measures I put a 4 bar introduction based entirely on Alabama Marc's proposed rhythms and adding the rhythm "Ning Thing" at the end.  When I saw what you had added I saw you incorporated some of the things I had already written and added new things, all in typical classic banjo style. But when I tried to play it I realized that it seemed to end too soon. And that made me laugh. Then I counted the measures in the first part and realized it ended   sooner than I would have expected. That made me laugh again because we have an expression  that says that something looks or sounds like it was "made by a committee". So then I wondered if you had done this deliberately for the purpose of making sure this tune sounded like it was composed by a committee. But then I wondered  if you had thought  the 4 bars of introduction were the first 4 bars of the melody itself. That would explain your adding fewer measures to part one than I would have expected.

And the Ning Thing strikes again. After composing and posting my reply to Marc about 12 measures or 16 I went to the home page and it was back on Jan 17. Since Ning is likely to say it didn't happen, is the non-happening an example of these new-fangled "alternative facts" we've all been hearing about?

And then 30 minutes later "Plus 30 more messages" appears in a little box. If I click that I'm brought up to date.

YES , for me too , the posts vanished & come back again without any reason ............. A Ning thing ................

i realized the  first 4 bars was the intro of the tune ;after this ,there is a double bar line ; then  8 bars + 4 empty bars = 12 bars then the double bar line ;... so i thought the part was only 12

OH!  I see. When I created the measures using Musescore it hadn't occurred to me to write an intro.  I began composing the tune using Marc's rhythms and I quickly thought " this sounds like an intro". So I made those 4 bars be the intro.
