This is a very good made for banjo cake walk. To my ears, some of it has the sound of an A.J. Weidt tune, especially the second part. The biography of the composer is interesting and worth a read, it can be accessed at the following:

I couldn't find a front cover so I've added some pictures of Europe and his orchestra.

The score and midi are in the library...Steve.

Good tune find, Steve - it has a strong, catchy melody.

Hi Carrie, Thanks Carrie, this is another 'could have been written for banjo' tune. Are you going to give it a try? I'll have a look through some of Europe's other compositions in case there's more suitable music....Steve.

Yes I think I will - it does sound like it was written for the banjo.  I am learning Weidt's 'Dat Yam Rag' at the moment - I have reached the Trio (part C) which is usually where I fall flat on my face! :)

Keep going, Carrie! "Dat Yam Rag" is probably my most favorite of Weidt's.

Steve, well done again! James Reese Europe's story is a fascinating one indeed.
