I've never found a date on any of the Morley scores that I have indicating when they may have been written. Does anyone have date information for any of his most popular tunes?....Steve.

Thanks for that Marc..The amount of work that Richard must have done to put that lot together deserves everyone's admiration and thanks. Too many tunes and not enough time is my greatest fear. I may get through most of them before my toes curl up, but I doubt it....Steve,

Gentlemen, please update your link, Mr Morley has his own  website : www.joemorley.co.uk, the witchhazelmusic mirror will be disappearing shortly as I rationalize what is on my servers.

Yep, As Dave says there is already a Joe Morley website with piles of information about the "Master".

There seems little point duplicating the information on here. There is a link to Dave's site on our WORKS OF JOE MORLEY page. The project is still under way with a pile of "unheard" audio midis of Morley compositions  completed ready for upload, some of them stunners too!

One early composition I think is amazing.. and I am pretty sure has never been heard.. SO

...Watch this space as Rev. Anthony, Richard and myself have been very busy in the background!

We're waiting with bait breath!

Sushi for lunch... ;-)

The link I provided came from Google...I didn't have one saved here at work but I knew the site was out there.

There are dates on some of the pieces, Niggertown, 1919, for one, the approximate date of publication of other pieces can be deduced from their number/position in the Alvey Turner and C.Essex lists, in relation to the dated pieces. This doesn't indicate the year in which the pieces were written but we can assume that JM would try to sell his compositions relatively quickly after their completion. I am working on a new list of Morley's work, as new pieces have come to light since I did my original list, and a lot of pieces which had remained in Ms. form have now been published by the CE Co. the ABF etc.

I am also working on JM's biography, Anthony Peabody has turned up new information which, will be included, and which we hope will prove to be of interest to Morley fans.
