I don't know about a salon banjo but a saloon banjo, yes, there have been many. All this reminds me of a concert I gave with my wife Kate Brislin about 1990 or so in a small town north of Chicago. We were playing standing and Kate had forgotten her banjo strap. So we explained that she would support the banjo placing one foot on a chair because tonight she was playing a Strapless Banjo. An audience member yelled out " Ah, an EVENING BANJO".
