I simply call them "part of an authentic performance", citing Oakley, et al. ;-)

I think I've taught Sunflower Dance to a dozen people now. It is a catchy tune and fairly easy  for a bluegrass-trained banjoist to pick up. Well done!

My classical guitar teacher always used to say that the best performances were never heard by anyone else. I think there is a lot of truth in that.

Thanks Trapdoor2, i certainly dont disappoint people on the "authentic" aspect. ;-)

Trevor, in my case - never a truer word spoken !

Im still struggling with the idea of playing with my finger ends ! Sometimes the strings just dont let go of my fingers. I should take the leap and get some nylon strings.
