When you're recording, if you make a mistake can you reuse the cylinder, or is it wasted? If so I would go through 100 cylinders to get one ok take!

Hahaha yes there are planers for cylinders, but not more than three times if not more than enough material;)

Well done! Ya gotta be quick to get it all onto a 2 minute cylinder!

Martin Fisher always brings his Edison to Nashville's "Breaking Up Winter" and will record anybody...I think now he has a base charge for the cylinder as they are pretty expensive.

I tried recording "Berkeley March" on his machine once...could not play fast enough to get it all done in the space of 2 minutes. Just before I tried anyway, some real musicians showed up and I got too nervous to play at all. I did eventually get 'waxed' with a concertina solo...it sounded really amazing...and I did the full announcement just like on the original cylinders. "Concertina Solo played by Mr. Marc Smith...Edison Records"

I have a "Fireside" but it doesn't have the recording reproducer. Martin offered to help me upgrade mine to do recordings but I never got around to it.
