It is a contemporary ragtime (1991 ) by the fabulous pianist & composer Frank French . Here is my arrangement downdated from a 7 octavers piano version to a only 3 octavers banjo version . The banjo is in the regular classic tuning .

Bravo Marc,
Ragtime!! That is what the banjo was invented for :-)

I love it... Forget the 1800s stuff...more ragtime please.

Rob, regarding the ending.. Marc had just forgotten to turn his replay button off.

Thx Rob & Ian ; i didn ' t understand what you mean by the " real rag instrument " , Rob ; I dont have have any idea ' bout what could be the " real rag instrument " ; I just have an idea about " the instrument " , it is the banjo ...lol
i think it is difficult to play piano tunes , piano rags on the banjo solo ( & this one more because i guess the compositor is a fan of L M Gottschalk and his no ending ascendant & descendant arpegios ) ; i did hesitate playing this version of this rag because i am not fred van Eps & i s difficult to play this at the full speed like usually played on the piano ; for instance i can play " temptation rag " full speed on the piano ; i think it is difficult to do on the banjo when playing groups of 2 , 3 or even 4 notes to give an idea of the harmony . yet , i have an easy way to play at the full speed : the 1st banjo play only singles notes in melodic style , the 2nd banjo play the hamony and the cello the last part ... what do you think ?

I thought Marc was going to be playing on a Steamboat!

I have transcribed one modern rag to banjo tab, "Roberto Clemente" by David Thomas Roberts...a contemporary of Frank French.
