I just got one of these off of eBay for $149 (MSRP is supposedly $500) it's a replica, I don't know who's making them, but it's a beauty.
I'm enjoying it immensely! I only have purchased one 78 record so far, of the great Vess L. Ossman (Yankee Land & Peter Piper banjo solos) & it did come with one with some unremarkable orchestra tunes on it.

Here are some recordings I did of the record.
enjoy!

I collected Victrolas (and 78's) for a while...ran out of room in the house. I still have a big floor model Victor and a console Brunswick...oh, and an Edison "fireside" cylinder machine. The Victor is quite loud but the Brunswick has the best sound. Volume control on these things is via the needle. You could buy "soft" or "loud" needles as well as very soft bamboo ones. The bamboo needles are the best for just sitting and listening. There are about 1500 - 2000 78's laying around my house...and about 50 cylinders. Only a few banjo ones though!
