SS Stewart restoration query
12 Replies

I'm in the process of restoring a basket-case 1890 SS Stewart "Orchestra" banjo.  The pot is 12 in. diameter, 2.25 ins. deep and the distance from the top of the bracket shoes to the vellum is 7/8…Continue

Remarkable footage

Just came across some remarkable footage on Youtube.   If you search under "Early English Traffic Scenes 1896-1903" there is Pathe footage from the period at various UK locations.  These are all…Continue

John Field replied to Jem Bowkett's discussion Weaver Banjo serial number?
"John.....You may well be correct, but I'd be interested in the evidence you have to show that the CE Co. numbered repairs and restorations in the 1950's.  I bought my CE Special XX in the CE Earlham St. shop in Sept. 1961.  It…"

Welcome John,

I see that you have a CE Special XX... me too, and what banjos they are!

I have never seen a Van Eps flush fret, but I would love to own one as Fred is my hero of Classic Style!

Enjoy your time on here.

Ian
