Does anybody have experience with these, especially the earlier non-flush fret models? Are they very good banjos?

The guts out of the Van Eps recording banjo seem to have disappeared!

... and the strings look mighty thick. The 5th looks like a rope :-)

The owner doesn't have them installed right now, but he still has them.

Any banjo at all will sound thin and sharp with that much stuffing behind the bridge.

This banjo looks like to be exactly the same Eric S own and play here on his videos ; 12 inches ; he removed the internal cymbal reso because it was too loud ;

the neck is very , very narrow and parallel 'cause FVE used to play in the trebbles of the banjo using chord positions ;

i checked several times Eric ' s banjo ;amazing but  it 's not for me because of the narrow neck

I went ahead and made the trade.  I'm really looking forward to the 28 1/4'' scale length!  Now I've got to find an ebony two-foot bridge like the one Paul Cadwell uses here:

That's a neat video. The first tune is "Tyro Mazurka", a popular teaching tune in the late 1890's. A bit jazzed up from the student version!

Hi John, We had quite a discussion about Paul Cadwell, his banjo and his bridge earlier this year in a post by Joel Hooks.
