As well as being an author and poet,(Far From The Madding Crowds etc.), Thomas Hardy was also an accomplished violinist and together with members of his family, who were all musicians, he used to perform at venues around his native Dorset. He was also a collector of Traditional Wessex folk tunes of which this is one. It's another of the tunes that Eric asked me to arrange for him. I would probably describe this a being similar to a gavotte, it's not too hard on the fingers and a nice one to play. The score and midi are in the library...Steve.
