Yet another arrangement for Classic Style Banjo by Steve Harrison. This tune is composed by Lee Orean Smith and is called Ole Elph's Vision  (no, I have never heard of it, or him either!)

Steve describes this arrangement as:

"Another of those tunes that sounds as though it should have been written for banjo. I've made the arrangement more banjo like than previously with rolls and triplets as they fit the tune well...Steve."

Thank you  Steve. The tune and a midi file is now available for all in the MUSIC LIBRARY

Yes, another cool piece. Well done! Mr. L.O.Smith (no relation) was a Broadway producer and composer. I found a few pieces recorded by Victor in the early part of the 20th cent. and a list of three Broadway productions he produced in the same time period.

This piece is vaguely reminiscent of the "Darkie's Dream/Nightmare/Awakening" stuff. The Lansing pieces were so popular that they spawned almost a whole genre of "dream/nightmare/visions/spells" tunes.

Thanks for your comments Marc, it's definitely one of those tunes influenced by the hearing of banjo music by the composer. I couldn't find out much about the composer so thanks for the info. I'm working on another of his tunes 'Campin' on de ole Suwanee' which is written in a similar vein and sounds pretty good on banjo.
