Here is a good one that I have been sent by Frank Coyne.

I checked out the web of information about Pete Mandell and this piece, but can't find a recording of it anywhere. There is a record called 'Finger Tricks" played by Mario de Pietro on the CD "Banjo Finger Tricks", but this is not the same piece.. anyone have a recording by Pete Mandell?

Pete Mandell played plectrum style, but apparently could not read or write music!

This arrangement of his composition was produced by Emile Grimshaw.

The description of the piece sounds interesting:

"Little Finger Tricks" is an excellent solo for learning to cope with the little finger of the left hand. You can play chord-melody bars with only moving the little finger."

The Score is now available in the MUSIC LIBRARY.

There is an old treatise on my website in the Songbooks section entitled: Notes on Trick Banjo Playing that is interesting to read. It seems a few of the Great Ones actually used these tricks. Donkey Laugh comes to mind for one.
