Hello all. I have just finished restoring some historic recordings of Frank Bradbury. These were recorded in 1961-62 along with the Pyquac Pickers. The pickers were actually his wife and son. There are two volumes of Frank Bradbury with a third on its way. Each CD has over 12 songs on it. I would appreciate if someone would buy some of my work, there is nowhere else you can get restored recordings of these old pickers. Stop by shop.classicbanjo.com and check out a few of the selections.

Hi Hal,

Thanks, as always, for your efforts!

I bought Vol 1 too ... There seem to be dupes on the two volumes - or are they actually different versions of the same tunes?  Cane Break Medley, University Grand Waltz, Arabesque ... Each is on both volumes, so just curious.

Rob, in Hal's original post he mentions that the recordings are from '61-'62.

All the best,

Adam

The recordings were made in 1961-62. Frank was getting up in years.

Just downloaded Volume I of the Bradbury recordings - the whole purchase and download process went very smoothly. Thanks, Hal.

Bradbury seems to have been an amazing player, up there with William Ball, Vess and Olly. When were the recordings made, Hal?

To answer your two questions, yes. That is, there are repeated performances on the two volumes. I left them that way because I felt that they were different from each other. Sadly, I don't know where the recordings were made but I suspect they were recorded at one of the ABF rallies.

Now I'm thoroughly confused, Hal. What I think is being said is that Frank Bradbury himself is actually playing on these recordings, and his accompanists are his wife and son, and there is some repetition of repertoire on the 2 volumes currently available but these are not the same performances. Have I got it right?  Thanks! What are his wife and son's names?

You are truly a most astute gentleman. That is my story and I am sticking to it. I do not know what their names are. Sorry.
