Hi,

I came across this link while doing some research online. I had never even heard about this label before until today. I thought that others here might be interested. The recordings date from the late 19th century. The fact these even exist seems amazing to me.

I will definitely be spending a lot of time on the Archeophone website over the next few weeks/months.

Some years ago we had a discussion of Asbury and his playing style in "Haul De Woodpile Down". I was convinced that his recordings were the only example of "Stroke Style" recorded. I'm glad that the folks at Archeophone agree! :-)

At the time, there were only two recordings of his available. Glad to see that more have been found. Odd that they're cutting this stuff onto 45rpm records. I would get a copy but I have no way to play such a disc.
