Banjo and guitar are not usually seen played together in classic style, a second banjo usually playing the accompaniment.  I was reading a post by Mike Moss over on BHO where they were discussing banjo and guitar and I remembered this old chestnut from 1936 of Tarrant Bailey Jnr playing with Geoff Sisley on guitar.

Classic Banjo at its best!  Lively and foot-tapping,  just how I like it :-)

I think the guitar and banjo are a natural combo. Besides, it's easier to find accompaniment since so many people play the guitar these days.

And very good it is too. Perhaps Mrsthereallyniceman should abandon the piano and take up the guitar? !

shame you cant hear the guitar to much ,mr Sisley what a nice player .I know he was giving mr Bailey some light and shade but just a bit louder please.

I really like the tone of that guitar... pity archtops aren't easy to find nowadays, if I still played guitar I'd be playing one of those.

The "tone of that guitar", except for a few seconds at the end, is the tone of an unseen piano. Archtop guitars have never been more plentiful and never at such low prices. New Eastmans can be splendid and are a fraction of the price of Gibsons.

i could hear the piano over the guitar to ,did they have mixers in them days.

not at all ; the stereophonic recording start about 1950th  ; all these recordings are monophonic _ you don 't see mikes ; there are no mikes ; all this is playback and  , here , they may be forgot there was a pianist on the original audio ' recording ; the main problem of the Pathe ' enginneers was the image ; they couldn (t treat image & sound together .  The fact that so many pathe_ clips are with missing sound proove it

They make a good job of this tune, what is it called?
