Hi all,

one of the solos I'm working on right now is "Adieu", by A. Kirby (h/t Ian) and it's definitely an interesting piece... it includes a bass melody with chords in the intro and a a tremolo melody with thumb accompaniment. The piece is coming along nicely, but sometimes I feel that something is a bit odd about the way the music is notated. For instance: the Intro part feels a bit "plectrumy" if I play it as it is notated (bass melody notes with the thumb, chords strummed with the index finger) and the tremolo part played with triplets also feels a bit odd -- I can't seem to get a steady tremolo using this method and end up playing p i m i.

Any thoughts on the piece? It's a very nice solo otherwise and very original as well.

Sorry Mike,

I have little experience of finger Tremolo, except that I read somewhere that some old time players using this technique developed RSI in the index finger and were no longer able to play fingerstyle (I may be mistaken, but A.Farland may have suffered this fate!)

If you and others do want to try "Sostenuto". Here are two lessons from the Parke Hunter Tutor
